Biography: | When David was first introduced, he was living with his parents and fourteen year old sister Kim in Chicago. In addition to taking classes at the high school David was well known for taking additional classes at the University of Chicago, where David had befriended another mutant by the name of Xi'an Coy Manh. Xi'an's old friend Danielle Moonstar arrived in Chicago in an attempt to convince David to attend the Xavier Institute, but the two started off on the wrong foot. It wasn't long after David returned home to his parents that Mr. Alleyne discovered a flier on his door outing David as a mutant. Mr. Alleyne was startled by the discovery, which sent David running from the house. Originally David thought Dani was the one who outed him; in truth the flier turned out to be the work of Purity, a group of mutant-hating bigots residing in Chicago. The members of Purity tried to attack David, but he was able to fight them off with the help of Dani and Xi'an. David returned home and Mr. Alleyne apologized for his earlier reaction. Pointing out that David was now a target now that Purity knew he was a mutant, Dani and Xi'an were able to convince the Alleynes to send David to the Institute. It was there at the Institute that David met and befriended fellow mutants Sofia Mantega, Laurie Collins, and Kevin Ford. Together with Dani and Xi'an the four students were able to fight off the mutant-hating Reavers, who had targetted Sofia's loved ones in an effort to lure them away from the Institute. At the Institute David became roommates with new recruit Josh Foley, a former member of the Reavers who was kicked out of his own home after his parents discovered he was a mutant. David has had a harder time forgiving Josh's past than his friends have, but Dani was able to convince him to at least make an effort. When Josh inadvertantly destroyed the school infirmary after healing a comatose mutant, it was David that tried to convince Josh of the foolishness of his actions. Josh refused to listen to David's advice, insisting that he preferred it when the two weren't talking to each other. David's power causes him to take on the skills and knowledge of the people around him, but the knowledge fades when David isn't around them. As a result David has thrown himself into his studies so that he can learn all of the information he gathered for real. Unlike the rest of his friends David is more interested in going to college than becoming an X-Man. |
